London Mayor Sadiq Khan has announced a new £1.2 million scheme to fund 200 youth workers in an effort to combat knife crime in London.
The Rise Up programme, delivered by London Youth, aims to educate children aged 10 to 18 on leadership skills and conflict management, with participants reporting feeling better equipped after role play scenarios.
The initiative comes as London faces a rise in violent crime, with 19 teenagers killed in 2023 and a decrease in funding for youth workers and youth centers over the past decade. [ more ]
